Exciting Youth Sailing Event: 2024 Fiji Oceania Optimist Championship

Get ready for a great sailing time as the Fiji Yachting Association prepares to host the 2024 Fiji Oceania Optimist Championship. This prestigious event is set to reignite the sailing scene in Fiji and across Oceania, offering young sailors an unforgettable three-day competition from October 11th to 13th, 2024.

The championship aims to promote youth sailing worldwide, with a special focus on the Oceania region. It promises to provide the highest quality racing experience for young sailors competing in Optimist Dinghies while fostering individual friendships and international goodwill.

Championship Format

The event will feature a minimum of three races to constitute a championship. The series will include:

1. Optimist Boys Individual Oceania Championship
2. Optimist Girls Individual Oceania Championship

Both championships will run concurrently over the three race days.

Entry Details

• Open to competitors sailing Optimist Class boats
• No limit on the number of sailors from Oceania member countries
• Entries from non-Oceania members may be allowed
• Registration deadline: October 10, 2024

Prizes and Awards

The championship will recognize top performers with the following awards:

• Top 3 placed male sailors (regardless of continent of residence)
• Top 3 placed female sailors (regardless of continent of residence)
• Top 3 placed sailors from Oceania (without gender distinction)
• The first-place Oceanian sailor will be crowned the Fiji Oceania Champion 2024

Additional prizes may be awarded at the organizers' discretion.
