Fortaleza 2026 World Sailing Championships Test Event

The Oceania Sailing Federation (OSAF) is pleased to share updated details from World Sailing regarding the 2027 World Sailing Championships and its preceding Test Event.

The pinnacle event will take place in Fortaleza, Brazil, from January 22-30, 2027. In preparation, a crucial Test Event has been scheduled for the year prior, running from January 24-31, 2026. This event is a key opportunity for our sailors from Oceania to gain a competitive edge by experiencing the unique conditions of the Fortaleza racing areas.

Key Logistical Information for Teams:

  • Venues: The event will be split across two locations:

    • Marina Park Hotel: Hosting Dinghy and Windsurfing events. This will also be the site for container grounding/storage, and will have a crane and fuel for support vessels.

    • Iracema Beach: Hosting the Kite events.

  • Equipment:

    • ILCA: There will be no supplied ILCA equipment for the Test Event. Charter options will be published by the Organizing Committee (OC).

    • Support Vessels: Coach boat charter will be possible, with options to be announced by the OC.

  • Accommodation:

    • World Sailing advises that the Marina Park Hotel will be used exclusively for the Test Event, with reservations handled directly on a first-come, first-served basis. Many other hotel options are available along Iracema Beach for all teams.

Expanded Event Details:

The Test Event will now feature a full slate of Olympic and Para Sailing classes, providing a comprehensive trial run for the World Championships.

  • Events include:

    • Men's & Women's Windsurfing (iQFOiL)

    • Men's & Women's Kite (Formula Kite)

    • Men's & Women's Dinghy (ILCA 7 & 6)

    • Men's & Women's Skiff (49er & 49erFX)

    • Mixed Dinghy (470) & Mixed Multihull (Nacra 17)

    • Para Sailing Classes (Hansa 303, 2.4m OD, RS Venture Keel)
